About Me

Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.

A Little About Me

I started teaching in 1997 and joined the Heritage fine arts faculty as Director of Bands in 2002. In 2013, I joined the Technology Department, and since 2016 have served the Heritage community as an Intervention Specialist. Over my career, I've taught band, orchestra, jazz, guitar, music theory, music appreciation, video production 1 & 2, credit recovery, and academic workshop. This year is going to be awesome as head back to my roots by taking over the vocal music program, AP music theory, and piano. My NEW advisory class takes on its freshman year and I get to help sponsor our revitalized chess club!

I play drums in a Denver-based rock band and have been with them since 2006. It is the longest single job I've ever had! After teaching, connecting with others through music is just about the most important thing a person can do...

Running remains a way for me to connect with the outdoors, and I enjoy talking about what running has done in my life. I served for 5 years as a race ambassador for the Colfax Marathon, promoting training events and helping with the logistical side of the marathon relay. I have run marathons in four states and will attempt a Boston Marathon qualifying time next year.

But first, let's grab a coffee...
